Hi,
My name is Cherry, I am a recent survivor of cyber bullying. In my blog I have written what cyber bullying is and what we are doing against it. Everyday someone online gets bullied and sometimes everyone gets to over the head and dies. I want to tell you, you are not alone. I hope you enjoy my blogs and have a different mind about cyber bullying. Let`s stop the suicide numbers and all live in peace. If you have any questions don`t bother to comment.

My story
When I was in middle school I was called many names and made fun of because I wasn`t in any of the smart classes. I wanted to try to be different, so I changed as I got into high school. I was flirty and preppy and always was with the popular group. I started my Facebook that year and got a message saying I was a whore and had pictures of me in middle school all nerdy and such. I did not know what to do. I was called names out loud and tortured. My boyfriend at the time broke up with me cause he was embarrassed to be with me. I chose not to go to the principle with this because I thought I could handle this on my own. I wanted to tell everyone that I was not afraid of their words. I soon fell into depression and was thinking of suicide. I heard an add on the radio and it was the suicide life line and I was really looking for someone to talk to and they helped me. My parents were always busy and my older siblings were not interested in my life.
I wanted to show everyone I was a better person. I always request the same person on the life line and she is just amazing. I keep these words to heart and as you can see I have said it once or twice here
"ALLWAYS KEEP YOUR HEAD UP HIGH. THEY ARE THE ONES HIDING BEHIND A SCREEN."
And from this day I keep those words in my mind everyday.
Thank you LISA!

schools and the strict rules against cyber bullying
Cities are now telling their schools to have rules about cyber bullying that are strict and have crazy consequences. Schools are trying to be more persistent with the actions kids are taking today. These actions make the school think they have more control over the kids but in real life the kids are still ruling the cyber world. This is just a kind of things the schools are trying to handle. We are just not thinking like a child. The schools need to be more like not how do we prevent it, but how do we help the students be more confident with telling the adults what is wrong. We see how this could be useful. to the point where we can stop this completely without looking like dictators.John Norton. (2008, ). City schools prohibit cyber-bullying. Cyberbulling grows in schools today
60 % of state filled school incidents evolve around hate-filled threats, abuse and harassments sent anonymously online. Government schools report 600 incidents a term-60 a week, which 10% evolve around cyberbullying, sexting, or misuse of the internet. Do you see what is going on in schools today. We are trying to change the world but what is happening to our future generation. In this journal we see that there are many flaws happening in this world. We do not know how or when to stop what's happening in front of our eyes. Schools these days are getting worst with different problems but the biggest is cyber bullying. Now schools these days have strict rules of using cellphones and other devices. Schools even with the enforced rules still have troubles with cyber bullying. This essay if useful because when we are sitting in class another student may be in the midst of abuse online. Let`s stop these crimes and help our students out.

Cyber Bullying Leading to Criminal Actions
In this journal I got from the University of Alaska Anchorage library website has and interesting and alerting topic about cyber bullying. There are certain rules on cyber bullying such as in February, 2003 the NSW Crimes Amendment (School Protection) Act was active. Stating that they would provide protection when a person assaults, stalks, harasses or intimidates any school staff or student while attending a school. Since the act only provides protection at school it does not say anything when they are at home or on the way home, just states they have to be on school premises when the attack happens. The purpose of this journal is that cyber bullying can be a big thing, not only personal but criminal. The usefulness of this journal is that it shows if you bully someone online there are terrible consequences. Even though children think that bullying online is funny and ok. They don`t know about the consequences that will happen. So parents I can`t stress enough that please prevent your child from bullying online.

Stephanie`s blog inspired me
On Stephanie`s blog she has a video of a news report about watch what we post on Facebook. The video reminds me why I started my topic on cyber bullying. I started this topic because I have personally had some bully me online. I chose to write this blog not only it was the easiest topic, but also It was a personal experience. So when ever you are down about cyber bullying just remember that when you are being bullied online they are the ones hiding from you. You are the more superior one you are not the one hiding behind a screen. In Stephanie`s blob she reminds me that yes when we post we do leave a cyber footprint, and if we are not careful we can regret it for the rest of our lives.
PARENT ALAERT!!
The topic of this
essay is what parents should do when they see signs or when a child tells you
they are being bullied on social media. I believe the writer’s purpose is to
show parents what to see and do when their child is being bullied. The writer states; Tips for
children who experience cyber bullying: Avoid
responding or retaliating directly with the bully, since direct responses often
reinforce the behavior. Block the bully's messages or delete them without
reading them. Work with parent(s) to notify the media site of the cyber
bullying, since social media service providers often can internally address
bullying on their site, as well. Consider working with school officials
regarding ways they can help address the issue. Keep passwords completely secret
from everyone, except parents. Consider keeping a log of the bullying events.
This can help law enforcement intervene in the case of later escalation of
bullying into overt threats. The
writer concludes that parents should be alert when they see their children
acting a different way. Pediatricians encourage parents to ask if they are
being bullied online. Telling them they want to help in any way shape or form.
From calling the police to just a simple hug when they are crying.
The usefulness of this journal is that it will help parents see what is happening in their own child`s life.

RIP AMANDA TODD
Amanda, you were a young and beautiful soul. I wanted to write about your story cause it not only inspired me to write my blog but also to write about what happens to children when they get on social media and regret what they did. In this blog I have a video on Amanda`s never ending life story;
I cant imagine how your family must feel about loosing you years ago. I remember when I first saw this video and I was in tears for hours. Thinking why would someone do that to such a beautiful girl? I wanted to show you this because this is what cyber bullying does to such a young child. Parents if you are reading this talk to your children and ask them about their life. Yes, it may get awkward but trust me it will make them feel better. It shows your child you are interested what happens in their life. So please listen to your children, and if they do tell you they are being bullied don`t over react and call the police but ask them what have they done to stop it, and if they say nothing, go to their principle and talk to them. Schools have a strict policy about cyberbullying and won`t tolerate it.
Again condolences to Amanda`s family. Amanda was a young and beautiful girl, she deserved to live longer.
Think before you post, you may just save a life
Cyber bullying has not only happened amongst the children but also amongst the adults. As I was reading this journal; Stop Cyber Bullying! by: Daniel Gracie, and in her article she says that the internet has made many ways for us to communicate; such as, email, blogging, twitter, social networking and Facebook. The topic of this Journal is how social networks have a professional use for them people still use it in a harmful manner. Daniel talks about when people bad mouth other people online that we could be hurting someone else and soon, what we say on the internet will come to haunt us.
I feel the writer`s purpose was to tell the world what other people do on the internet and social websites. Yes, people can hide behind a screen but can they actually say it to the person`s face. Daniel wanted to tell us that the people online may say mean and hurtful things but if you are the one not hiding behind a screen then you`re the better person. In this journal Daniel writes about a survey that happened in 2008. Carrerbuilders.com conducted a survey for hiring managers who have done online internet searches for online job applicants. As they were looking they had a lists of concerns; inappropriate information on a candidate's Facebook page, poor communication skills, bad mouthing former employers or employees, unprofessional screen names, and confidential information from previous employers. Daniel sums up his journal saying, "As healthcare professionals or students we are held up by a code of conduct." To me that says if we don't stop cyber bullying, there will always be mean and hurtful things, but the usefulness of this journal is that we should always keep our head high and never stop being who we are.

Being one with yourself
Charles Simic writes about how to stop and find a quiet place to think in his essay, A Reunion with Boredom. He says that we have let technology take away our deep thoughts, not only about life but of ourselves. We are distracted by the technology we have today. Just right this second you are probably reading my blog while checking a text message you friend sent you. As you can see technology is around us 24/7. Being deep I thought has come in handy to people who have created big things to sky scrapers, to monuments, to miles and miles long bridges. For Charles Simic, as he sits in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene he comes in to deep thought. Thoughts about how much we depend on technology to update us about the rest of the world. In his essay he says, " I forgot who said one is bored only in paradise and not in hell". To me he says that we are taking advantage of our wonderful world by having our eyes glued to our five to ten inch phone screens. Being in deep thought can
means that we can think for ourselves. We don`t need to have someone else tell us who we can or can not be. To pull this all into my topic of cyber bullying, we don`t have to be afraid of being ourselves. If people don`t like the way you are then they aren`t worth your time. If they tell you, you need to be more like them, turn around walk away slowly and say "I AM MY OWN UNIQUE PERSON!", because you are your own unique person. Deep thought has not only disappeared but we are hiding it. In middle school, I use to get picked on all the time, and I was afraid to show my face at school. I couldn`t even handle it when my parents asked if I was alright. Before I used to just sing myself to sleep to get me to close my eyes and go into deep thought about my life, in dreams. Every one has there own way of trying to get themselves into deep thought, wether it is being alone or doing what you love. Simic keeps a very good point in his essay, and it is; " We should never take advantage of what we have because, soon it will all be gone".

What google can do to help and destroy us.
In Nicholas Carr`s essay Is Google Making Us Stupid? summarizes that we are being taken over by technology, and that technology is becoming more like us. In his essay he starts us off with the ending scene in , Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, where Dave Bowman is trying to shut down the super computer, Hal, by taking out the hard drives. As Dave is taking out the hard drives Hal talks to Dave and says,"Dave, stop. Stop, will you? Stop, Dave. Will you stop, Dave?" I feel he starts us off with this scene because he feels the need to show us, how technology evolved.
Now that Dave succeeded in his mission, the computer ends his life with the song people taught Hal how to sing. We see now that the way of life s changing and how we try to change for the better. Right now that does not make any sense, but let me explain. We have changed our way of life to evolve around technology. Technology wants to become more like us, to the point they are us. We have programmed technology to make us more closer together. Being together can be a good thing, especially if your love ones are miles and miles away. Technology is a very special thing, just like the human body. We all need to have a strong body, and within that body we have an immune system. The immune system helps us stay healthy and alive, but it could also fail. From the immune system we have the brain. The brain keeps all our memory and information we need in life, for instance the internet. The internet is the whole brain of technology, without it we would not have made all the things we have created. Just like the brain we keep memories inside. We have good, bad, silly, angry, and boring memories. With the bad memories, putting it towards the internet, people are not nice when they should be. Bullying online can lead to many different ends. Maybe it would make someone stronger, or maybe end their own life. Cyber bullying has been a huge thing throughout the years. With many children, and young adults who had many more years to live for. I want to say RIP to some of just the few people who have chosen to leave us in this world, and on to the next; Amanda Todd age 15, Daniel Perry age 17, Shannon and Erin Gallagher ages 15 and 13, and Ciara Pugsley age 15. As you can see the deaths of many were so young. Hopefully we can see the light and see them again. To sum up my point technology can advance it`s self to becoming human like us, but there is one thing that can`t be duplicated, love. Technology can`t duplicate what our hearts feel the most, the feeling of our loved ones taken by technology and with the help of everyone else in this world.

You are not alaone
Cyber bullying can be prevented by just giving a helping hand. Giving a helping hand goes a long way with a person who is being bullied. Bullies are just trying to find a way without getting caught in the act.
Cyber bullying is the evolution of the popularity, when in the 90`s and all the way back in time, we would whisper into each others ears and say mean things about one another. Then when the rumor is said, it would take a week or so for the rumor to spread around. Then when the victim is hit by the rumor, the tears and sadness come for days, but it would only go away if you reach out and give someone a shoulder to cry on. People are there for the victims who are on the way to the short road. The short road is the road that people go down when there is no one to help them. People around the world, who go down this road, some come out and some don`t. The people who come out just like myself, have made lifelines for people to come out of hiding. There are 24/7 lifelines any hour of the day, all week. The number is 1-800-273-TALK (8255). Even if you just need someone to talk to they would be there. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be here writing these blogs. So if you ever just need that shoulder to cry on call, like I said a helping hand goes a long way.
